What kind of large dog would be best for us?

My family is wanting to get a large dog, we don’t care for small dogs that bark too much. But we are a little confused when it comes to the breed of dog we want because we hear about dogs that have bad temperments and are not good with children. We have three children ages are 10, 7, 5. We just need a dog that would be a good watch dog, but gentle and loving with our kids. Can anyone help?
We want to keep him inside, so we need a breed that would house train easily, too.

I am looking for a dog for home security, what large dog will not hurt my cat and older male dog?

What is the best thing for mites in ears in large outside dog and how can it be prevented?

Can I use a large dog cage for a ferret cage?

What large dog breed is the best?

My dog died recently, and I’m considering buying another dog. I would prefer a large breed, and I would like it to be somewhat of a guard dog. Not mean, but protective. I’ve read good things about German Shepherds, so I’m looking into buying a puppy. Any comments would be appreciated, as I’m still not sure a German Shepherd is the right dog for me. I’m a huge dog lover, and I would have plenty of time for it. Please let me know what large dog breed, you think would be best for me!
