Are dogs born with allergies?

Or do they contact it then form the allergy to it?
Just wondering because my dog Duke has had allergies since he was little but my dog Dakota doesn’t have any.
develop contract same thing! Its what I meant but couldn’t think of the word!
I have read that German Shepherds have allergies and so do Labs. Which Duke is a mixed breed of both of those and rottie but I don’t know if rotties have allergies.
sorry but you don’t shave a lab/GSD/Rottie mix!
Pretty Sure My Dog Has Food Allergies.Scratching, Ear Infection, etc?
Written by gitterdun on December 25, 2009 – 11:13 am -Jeep Girl asked:
Adopted an AWESOME dog and was told he had “dry skin, because he scratches a lot”. Well, I took their word for it. About a week later, I checked his ears and he had a massive ear infection. It cleared up with antibiotics. Now it’s back! and he scratches, but only in the morning or evening and bites at his paws. There’s not patches of skin missing. He doesn’t scratch til he bleeds, but he scratches enough to concern me.
So here’s my question. I’ve tried Iams – didn’t work. He just finished a big bag of Purina One Lamb & Rice – didn’t work.
I have lots of venison in my freezer. I’d like to cook that up with vegetables that a dog can tolerate. Fruits as well. I’d like to try this for the next month.
Has anyone ever tried this, feeding their dog natural foods like this? If so, what foods did you use? Please list for me fruits and vegetables please. Can I use rice as well?
Then after 6 weeks if the scratching has stopped, I could slowly incorporate dog food back in. Thanks!
I gave him a REALLY good, long bath, and used sensitive, dry skin shampoo. Didn’t work.
I went to the vet, and he said, “let’s clear up that ear infection. If it doesn’t work, let’s talk about food allergies”. I really don’t want to pay another $100 to “talk about food allergies”. I’d like to start treating it now with advice from people who’ve been there!

Is it possible for a dog to have a peanut allergy?
Written by gitterdun on December 21, 2009 – 2:30 pm -Cynthia asked:
I put some peanut butter on my dog’s knuckle bone and soon after his belly swelled up bad. And he was sick all through the next day and still a bit today. That was the only table food he had that day. We don’t ever give him table food for a meal, but we once in a while hand him a piece of something every once in a while. I will be stopping all after this experience.
Are there any dog breeds that look like wolves?
Written by gitterdun on December 20, 2009 – 5:05 am -Robby Lace asked:
Is there a dog breed that looks like a wolf, and doesn’t have a curly husky-like tail? Is there one that looks like a wolf or a fox that is okay for people with allergies? Remember, preferably a dog without a curly tail!
