What was the stupidest dog behavior you have ever seen?
Written by gitterdun on April 29, 2009 – 8:45 pm -science ***** asked:
And I don’t mean stubborn or hard to train, just a dog you saw no sign of thought in.
Once my mom and I were driving home, and this dog was trailing a broken leash behind it running in the road. The darn thing was trying to play with the cars! We pulled over and tried to grab the leash when it ran to greet us, but it kept on running back into the busy street looking so excited that it found friends!
We did get it back to its owners. My guess is that it was tied up where it couldn’t see the cars all day long and it didn’t know what they were and/or was desperate for a friend.
It could have just been more friendly than street savvy though.
I know dog intelligence is different than ours.
I am procrasinating from my Calculus homework and was just hoping for some amusing stories

How can we get our neighbors’ dog to stop barking every morning?
Written by gitterdun on April 29, 2009 – 9:21 am -Mintee asked:
They know that their dogs’ barking is extremely annoying,
but they let her do it anyway because it is easier than doing anything else about it. We used to love our neighbors, but that dog, ugh!

Dog behavior- odd or normal?
Written by gitterdun on April 29, 2009 – 6:11 am -heretoasku asked:
Okay, my dog does this odd thing and I want to know if it is normal or if he is just odd. He has an obsession with licking legs, only legs. Its always men too. He will sit and lick every inch of the lower legs for hours if you let him. I find this odd and can’t figure out why he does it, any suggestions? Also, he was fixed as a puppy but still humps blankets, never people or even other dogs (lived with 2 other dogs for over a year and never tried once) but humps his blankets daily. it makes me sick but I don’t know how to make him stop shouldn’t him being fixed have stopped his ‘need’ to hump??? Any suggestions?
if it is stress, what would make a dog stressed? i work at home and he is with me all day long, he sleeps while i work, then we go for a walk, and then we lay around and cuddle there is no abuse or anything here. he was rescued from an abusive home 5 years ago and brought to me, could it be memories? I dont want my lil baby stressed out.

New dog behavior?
Written by gitterdun on April 22, 2009 – 9:47 pm -Princess Purple asked:
I have an 8 year old dachshund who I didn’t know (until recently) thought he was the alpha dog. I met with a dog behaviorist who helped me make some lifestyle changes (such as no more doggie sleeping in the bed with me, having him walk beside or behind me on walks, etc.) to show him who was the leader.
I’ve been doing this for about a week and the most interesting thing just happened! He rolled over on his back and let me rub his belly! He has not done this in the entire 8 years that I have had him.
Is this a sign that he is submitting to me as his alpha leader?

How do you stop a dog barking all the time?
Written by gitterdun on April 22, 2009 – 6:10 am -camcorderkid asked:
Hi,
My dog won’t stop barking at cars, bikes..everything really. It’s becoming a bit of a nuisance for us and our neighbours.
Can anyone recommend a good dog training manual, guide or offer some suggestions themselves.
Someone recommended this dog training course by Daniel Stevens;
http://www.trade-secrets.org/stopdogbarking.html
Has anyone used it and is it any good? I’m always a bit skeptical of all those great testimonials…even with the pictures.
Cheers.
